After some user feedback that some early featured puzzles seemed to require guessing, I went back and ran my solver on all past daily and weekly puzzles. Out of the 7,000+ past puzzles, there are 21 that require guessing, all within the first 7 months or so after the game launched in 2009.

Sorry about that! In the early days, I didn’t quite have my puzzle solver in place to automatically check all puzzle submissions. In a future update, I’ll add a warning to those puzzles that they require guessing and offer free hints for those specific puzzles.

Cosmic Puzzle pack is here!

Pixelogic v5.12.0, out now on Android, iOS, and Steam, brings a new puzzle pack: Cosmic Puzzles. This puzzle pack includes 20 new puzzles featuring black holes, aliens, astrophysicists, and other cosmic oddities. A very fitting announcement for our 42nd newsletter.

Name that Nonogram

Nonogram creators have to do a lot with a little, creating convincing depictions with a limited amount of pixels. The puzzle titles do a lot of heavy lifting here, bringing much needed context and meaning to these tiny pixel artworks.

But what if we had no title to go on? I thought it would be fun to share past Pixelogic featured puzzles without their titles, and see if we can guess what is on display.

Since we are at the end of the year, I wanted to look back and recap some of the exciting things we launched this year:

• Pixelogic launched on a new platform: Windows and Steam Deck via Steam

• Highly requested quality-of-life features: “maybe” mark, drag locking, and dim clue numbers

• Added German and French languages

• New Themes

• Added an original soundtrack

• Re-launched newsletter as Pixelogic Weekly

In addition, there was also the bonus puzzle challenge, Every 5x5 Nonogram, where hundreds of thousands of internet strangers banded together to solve all 25 million puzzles. In addition, I launched Puzzarium, a new home for collaborative web puzzles, including the current challenge: Every 5x6 Nonogram.

It’s been busy, but I’m excited for the things I’m planning in 2026 with Pixelogic and Puzzarium:

• Puzzle packs! This will be my main focus for Pixelogic. This is something I’m behind on due to the work required for the Steam release. I’m goal is a new puzzle pack every 2 months.

• More puzzle challenges. I’ll be going beyond nonograms and trying more experimental puzzle games on Puzzarium.

Also, a big thank you to you, the players and puzzle creators who have supported this game for over 16 years.
